Alexandra Duarte Runs as “a Farmer, a Mom, and One of Us.” Her Husband’s 2022 Disclosure Shows His $783,953 Salary and Up to $91 Million in Family Assets.
John Duarte, who signed his 2024 concession statement “Your Farmer,” reported a 2022 salary from the family nursery about 7.8 times the average pay of a California farm manager. The family’s listed assets were valued between about $18.6 million and $91.1 million.

Launching his 2022 campaign for Congress, John Duarte told the Merced County Times: “I’m a farmer, and a businessman, and a fighter. The only difference now, running for Congress, is that I’m getting out of the cheap seats.” He told the paper he wasn’t looking to become a career politician and wanted to serve his time and go back to his family business.
“Farmer” stayed at the center of his brand. His campaign logo reads “John Duarte, Congress, Farmer.” Conceding the 2024 race, he wrote that he would “return to my full-time job as a father and a farmer,” added that “together, we sent this farmer to Congress,” and signed the statement “Your Farmer.”
For 2022, his House financial disclosure reported a salary of $783,953 from Duarte Nursery. The same report lists the family’s investment assets, including almond and walnut orchards near Modesto, vineyards and land in Georgetown, and their interest in Duarte Nursery. Disclosure forms report each asset’s value as a range, not an exact figure. Added together, those ranges put the assets between about $18.6 million and $91.1 million. The forms do not show debts subtracted, so this is not a net worth.
That salary is about 7.8 times the $100,550 average annual wage the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported for farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural managers in California in May 2022. Put another way, his pay from the nursery that year equaled the average pay of nearly eight California farm managers combined.
His wife, Alexandra Duarte, is running on the same theme. She is a Republican candidate for California State Senate District 4 on the Nov. 3, 2026 ballot. Her campaign website says: “Alexandra is not a politician. She is a farmer, a mom, and one of us.” For 2023, John Duarte’s House financial disclosure reported her salary from Duarte Nursery as $783,328. Read more about that salary.
