What we cover
Alexandra Duarte is a candidate for California State Senate District 4. Her husband, former Rep. John Duarte, served as president of Duarte Nursery, the family’s tree and vine business near Modesto. Most stories here are about the company and John Duarte’s record. Alexandra Duarte is not a named party in the court cases described unless a story says so. Public records about her own role at the company and her campaign are collected on Alexandra Duarte: the record.
Our standards
- Every claim has a source. Each story lists its court records, government data and news reports, with links where the documents are online.
- Allegations are labeled as allegations. A lawsuit is one side’s claims. We say whether a court ruled, a case settled, or a case is still pending.
- We include the other side. When the company or the Duartes have responded publicly, their response is in the story.
- Quotes are exact. Words in quotation marks appear exactly as in the source.
- Dates matter. Case statuses are given “as of” the date we checked them.
